More Craigslist Scammers
We lost an expensive tube you tow behind a boat so I posted in the Lost and Found section of our local craigslist. I have now received three responses (all from female sounding names) that are obviously auto generated. I'm not selling anything and the responses were:
"Hey.. Your ad you posted is what i was looking for, but does this work 100% properly? Let me know! Thanks" "Hope u still have this LOST AIRHEAD VIPER 2 PERSON TUBE - LAKE MURRAY available" "I just want to make sure I am going to buy the same which i am looking for. I can't afford another mistake as I did in the past. Please check the video and confirm that it's the same u have." The last one included an active link which I did not click. I assume they want you to reply to them using your actual email address which they collect to sell to spammers.

I got an email with the third response in it. I replied back. "I'm not clicking your link, you look at my picture and compare it to your crap, not me"

I had some woman who was willing to pay me double for a Fiero engine if I watched the link and verified it was what her son had, then she said something about it's hard being a woman buying a motor. Craigslist sucks.

I didn't mention earlier that I responded by email to the first scammer before I realized it was a scam. I gave my first name cell and phone number and told the person to call me.
So yesterday I get a call. The calling number was blocked (my screen said "private call.") I answered. A male mumbled "Hi," I said "Hello, who is this?" He said "How ya' doing," and then hung up. I'm sure it was related to the craigslist scammers. They were testing the number to make sure it was an active number. So they have my email address to sell to spammers. What do they want my cell phone number for? Sell to telemarketers or something more nefarious? Can they hack into my account and make calls on my dime? Should I contact my cell phone carrier?
