July roll-call

Howdy All,
3 day weekend coming up for me. With the work schedule we have the week after the 4th we have a 3 day work week and then another 3 day weekend. Don't think I'll see many management people around until the 12th. LOL. What is happening with all of you?

Still here. Back to work after a six month hiatus. Work sucks! Bought the house next door and have to remove a large section of a floating concrete slab floor due to shoddy install. Looks like this 3 day weekend will be at the end of a jack hammer. I'm SUCH a party animal!

Here, and currently trying to ignore the smell of smoke in my hair......

Dear friend Joanie has the most awesome cafe downtown - 5 story former grain warehouse. Amazing space, wonderful wonderful lady. Cafe is downstairs, she lives upstairs.

Fire hit the building caddy-corner from hers last night, so Darling Wife and I headed down around 9:00 to see if there was anything we could do (power was out, and Joanie has no cell phone). Wound up parking several blocks out and walking the LONG way around to get past the police lines, found Joanie, got the police tape moved just far enough and convinced the nice officers to let us into her place to open/close windows and doors to try and get as much smoke out/fresh air in as possible.

Power came back on around 11:00, we were all starved, and Joanie had a boat load of food that needed eatin' since it'd gotten just warm enough while the power was out.

Wound up eating her food and drinking her wine with Joanie and a couple other friends until sometime after 2:00. Fire guys still there mopping up when we left.....

Story here

Not my pictures - we didn't grab a camera....

The bridge in the first picture goes between Joanie's cafe and the building across the street (it's Joanie's bridge).
