Latest project, reseal the spillway
For the past two weekends we've (myself and my boys) have been working on resealing the spillway. Finished it this afternoon and just have a little work to do on the inside. I used Quickcrete Hydraulic Water Stop Cement which prevents you from mixing much up before you place it. Took all day yesterday and today. It was challenging working on the homemade barge. A couple weeks ago I installed a 3" pvc drain pipe set up to syphon water out of the lake. I've got just a few more inches to go before I turn it off. Next week we will try to tackle the seawall.
On another note, looking at the discharge of the syphon I should be able to install a 12volt alternator, charging some batteries, feeding an inverter and then the house, hmmmmmm. Pics attached - on yea, I've put one in where the wife decorated the house for July 4th and you can see the E300 waiting for the new power steering hoses.

Holy cow, how much higher are you trying to get the water level in the lake? Our spillways are all flush with the lakes, except every other winter when they draw the lakes down for seawall repairs...is there a grating that goes over hte top, or is it open? Ours have big metal grates that will support the weight of several men, and collect trees and all sorts of storm debris.

What you are seeing is where I have drawn the level down. The spillway is made up of concrete with four courses of brick to bring it up to the finished level. The issue I was having was that the morter between the bricks was gone which resulted in the level staying at the top of the concrete during the summer then coming up to the top of the brick during the winter time. I want it to stay at the top of the brick all the time. In the pic I am sealing the joints and replacing missing brick.

Gotcha...looks like a hell of a project. How old is the lake? How deep?

Built in 1929
and 30 feet deep at the spillway.
Spring and stream fed and it takes up about 30 acres.

Very nice, should I assume there's good fishing?

Thanks
There are plenty of bream and bass although I rarely take the time to fish. I mostly just feed em.

I dig your cabin. Look like it sleeps a lot of people. What's the history on the place?
