Is it possible for a dog to be allergic to cats?

We just got a dog.. everything is going ok minus her pissing on my bed once.... but, when I brought one of our cats into the room she took a big sniff, started to sneeze got watery eyes and scratched like mad.. never seen anything like it... is this even possible?

Your dog is just marking its space. Deal with it or get him fixed.

What was on the cat?
Give it a few days & see what happens.
Dont expect dogs & cats to be good friends!!
My dogs must have an allergy to farm work. They go & hide when its time to move cattle!! or maybe they caught it from me !!!

I'd say its possible. I had a dog who was alergic to beef. Her ears would get all waxy and itchy if she ate any.

Talking

I was just told this joke, thought it may be worth posting on here!!!

Paddy tells Mick he's thinking of buying a labrador.

"F*#^ off" says Mick, "Have you seen how many of their owners go blind?"

I don't see why not.

We had Brandy, a boxer, she was allergic to just about everything.
There is a speciality clinic in the area and they had an alergist (or whatever he was).
Tested Brandy, she was amazing as he scratched her with like 20+ samples, she just took it like a trooper.

Well let's see, Beef (they went on lamb and rice), grass, pine, corn (we live close to several farm fields), box elder and any number of other things.

I had to give her a shot weekly, some kind of allergy ??

She was also very suseptible (???) to bee stings, so we kept the shot for allergic reactions here. She still ended up at the emergency vet at least once as she liked to bite at the bee's.

Sorry for the missing details, Brandy was great to have but she's been gone 10ish years.
