Bought an 84 633 CSi today!

Ok, so I got a new toy today! 1984 633 CSi body in terrific condition, interior very good, drives like a dream! Paint unfortunately HORRIBLE! Looks like someone rubbed the car down with a brillo pad?!?!

Been in love with the look of these cars for awhile. Just happened to come by this one and couldn't resist. Let the fun begin!!! I just wish there was a forum as good as this one for the Bimmer!

I detailed the "shady lady" before I brought my new girl home...didn't want her to be jealous

Attaching pics...

Nice, now you have to find a 560SEC to park next to it. A fellow I know has a pretty rare, but ropey 630CSI. I love the way it looks. These cars are certainly one of the 300 or so cars in my top 10.

E24s are beautiful, more prone to rust than their E28 sedan brethren, and a little heavier, but gorgeous styling. Bronzitbeige is not one of my favorite colors, it's prone to fading and just generallylooking tired.

Have fun with it!

Hope the seals around the windows don't leak, BIG problem with BMW coupes of that vintage. My 840ci solved it by lowering the window when the door was opened.

Do you mean the windows drop a bit every time before you open the door?

I know my 124 did that if the outside temp was too high when you unlocked the car. This was to let the hot air out.

Thanks for the tip on the seals. I was considering buying one of these 630's recently and have just started researching them.

Yep. I've seen it on a number of BMWs. It only drops and 1/8 of an inch or so and then pops back up when you close the door to maintain a tighter seal.

Ya really want to have fun, get a dead battery on an E31(850) and try to open the doors...the window glass won't drop and you have to be really careful opening the door.

The original Boxster had an electric trunk lock. Guess where the battery was? If you battery was dead you couldn't get to it to jump. Later models had posts on the fuse panel where you could get some juice to the lock to open the trunk.

Congrats! I've got an '83, also with sun-blasted paint (a black-on-black west Texas car that found its way to Madison, WI).

One caveat with the automatic (assuming it's a ZF 4hp22): never rev it in neutral or in park. There's an internal seal that can leak slightly with age, and presented with excessive pressure can do significant damage to the transmission. Does it want to creep in neutral?

Regarding the engine, you'll want to do a valve adjustment, and when you do, check the banjo bolt on the oil sprayer tube for tightness (the bolt will look you right in the eye when you take the valve cover off). If it's loose, give it a dab of Loctite when you tighten it down. A loose banjo bolt can reduce oil delivery to the cam lobes.

Few years back I had the same car, same color but 4 speed. Sold it real cheap. Minimal rust but a fun car to drive. I would love to find a nice M6 or 635 with 5 speed though.

An E24 is on my list of must haves...

Shark noses are the epitome of that era's styling
