Shucks! You beat me to it! That is the first thing which popped into my mind when I read the story today. Now granted, the income they receive from Walmart is probably a tiny portion of their over-all trade surplus but Wally-world helped set the pace.

Carrier killers . . . how quaint. What do they have against tactical nuclear subs? Or a growing middle class with an appetite for western democracy?

And the US defense establishment thanks you too. This will give them an excuse to spend more of my money on their toys. Neither country can afford this nonsense.

Hmm it's based on a ballistic missile which would make it a lot different the a lot of the other big anti-ship missiles that are out there. Still accuracy will be the biggest issue of all and even with the size of a carrier your trying to essentially throw something at a postage stamp from 1000 miles away. Frankly I don't see them doing it. Besides there are better ways to sink a carrier....

The real danger of this Chinese missile is not from its ballistic potential to destroy military assets and kill military personnel, but from its coat of cheap, crappy lead-based paint usually reserved for their exported toys. If you see one of these rockets, for God's sake, don't let your kiddies handle it.

It sounds like china is politely requesting that the west butt-out of Taiwan.

Let's hope we have an equally polite refusal.

I'm sure this will turn into some kind of a negotiation regarding activities in the waters around china. Business as usual.

Sorry, but I don't have a dog in this fight; I don't work for the US state department, they can handle this one themselves.

I do have a dog in the fight, so I don't buy Chinese goods -if possible.
