The trouble is when the wealthy see no reason to invest, taking billions of dollars out of circulation. Or they invest their money overseas where they might get a better return.

The challenge is to shake that money loose stateside without the government outright seizing it.

Unless that happens, the middle class will continue to shrink away, and the calls for socialism will keep getting louder.

When any FOX news poll comes out- or any poll that liberals don't like the standard response is: "poll can't be counted on to be accurate, you know, with cell phones and only XXXXX folks have home phones so the results are skewed, blah blah blah......." Where are those anti-poll people? If you are not here then in the future you have no ground to stand on with regards to poll accuracy.

Shocker is the poll is five years old.

Who conducted said poll of 5,522 random people and where& who was the sample population?
(a randomly selected 5,522-person sample, reflecting the country's ideological, economic and gender demographics, surveyed in December 2005)

Half the fun of driving a really old benz (in good condition) is that people don't have any idea what your deal is. It's sorta like wearing ratty clothes with a really expensive watch. Driving a new one is obvious; driving a new low-end benz will just make you look like you're trying to impress someone.

Why does it have to be one absolute or the other? Why can't we accept that neither is perfect and that a combination may workout better? Capitalism is full of flaws and so is socialism but they both have traits that are worthy as well. I for one would like to know that medical treatment and bills would not be something I would have to worry about when I am old(er). The only way I see that happening is with government involvement. Capitalistic Ins Companies and care givers are not going to do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

There are colors on the pallet other than black and white.

no doubt they have great health care, but who is paying?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Income_Taxes_By_Country.svg

I had a chance to move there for a decent paying job, then they told me they want 50% tax and I declined. With deductions I pay around 16% now. couldnt see a 3 fold increase in taxes being to my benefit.

You pay on the front end or you pay on the back end. One way or the other you pay. I would gladly pay 50% tax in order to get health care, public transportation, retirement care and a few other things I cannot think of.

not sure that 50% over my lifetime of earning would be fair to me, but if I was making 15K a year id jump on it.

You might get all that for your 50% tax, but the quality will go down and the fraud will go up. In other words, you'll pay more but end up getting less. It's very shortsighted to think that you're gonna get a utopia for the 50% taxes, and even more shortsighted to think that the 50% won't creep its way up to 75% in a decade or two.

The govt does a lousy job at everything except protecting our butts (arguable, I know). They less money they have, the better off we all are. They spend foolishly and I intend on giving them the least amount of money possible. Frankly, I'm stunned that ANYONE thinks giving those idiots more money is going to accomplish anything. Do you not pay attention to what they do in DC? Have you read anything about our current debt situation?

Poor people have a lot of nice stuff that I don't have. I love going into section 8 rentals, they usually have nicer TV's than me, and lease newer Mercedes and Lexus. My favorite had a 48in plasma in every room, I can only hope to one day have such luxury through hard work. But in the mean time I'm happy my tax dollars are supporting such a lifestyle for other people.

Socialism? No I don't like socialism it rewards leaches; I'm a big fan of the work or starve system, dog eat dog, or in some cases shark eat dog. Voting for socialism is just being afraid of the big fish in the pool and wanting to stay in the kiddie pool.

Right now half the country doesn't pay taxes and that's a shame.

The problems with both socialism and capitalism can be summed up with one word: Greed. Greed is not good, greed is why insurance costs so much and why taxes are so high. People have an opportunity to collect on insurance, so they sue for millions for some stupid little thing. Juries give them these obscenely huge judgments to "stick it to the other guy" but are really sticking it to the insurance company. The insurance company needs to see a double digit profit growth annually or the stockholders freak out, so they raise the premiums we all pay. Everyone in congress has some little pet project and wants to line their pockets as well, so they give themselves a raise and up the taxes to cover it, or ramrod something through "for our own good" without disclosing what new taxes it adds, or even reading it for that matter.
As far as redistributing, I already had someone try to tell me I should find someone more deserving to take my engine instead of using what I have, so you can keep your damn redistributing. Although, they were from Colorado so we can just blame it on the lack of oxygen.

Are you feeling a little disenfranchised ?

No hope for a positive change ?

Guess who wants you to feel that way ?
