Calling all Texans...quick question

Hey all,

I just had a quick question, is the space shuttle on the license plate space shuttle Columbia? I know Columbia broke apart over Texas in 2003, but the plates with the shuttle came out in 1999/2000 right? So it's not then, in that case? I'm just curious...

Since our now newly designed standard plate sucks so much, I'm going for a personalized Columbia memorial plate.

I'm a Science nut and I believe the fees go to a good cause and a small way to pay tribute to crew, it says:

From the $30 specialty plate fee, $22 goes to the Texas Aerospace Commission to make grants benefiting the Aviation and Space Foundation of Texas for the purposes of furthering aviation and space activities in Texas and providing Columbia Crew memorial scholarships to students.

Uhhh I said all Texans, not Floridians...

LOOOOL j/k

I'm just curious, it's one of those things where you're sitting in traffic and you notice it, try to figure it out but can't... So you're left wondering... Like those movies were they leave you to your own conclusions at the end...

That one's pretty awesome too..

I have to say though, if I ever moved to Flordia my immediate choice would be specialty plate... I'd hate having "myflorida.com" on a plate. Who voted for that? Or did they just change it for you guys?

I've always thought that the "myflorida.com" thing looked stupid. Is it too much to ask for, say, just "Florida" in that spot?

I'm not willing to pay an annual fee for a specialty plate to get rid of it, though.

The new standard Texas license plate? Ugh! What a disaster!

Friends of mine that lived on 1+ acre in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, had FARM TRUCK on their CTD Dodge 2500 pick up. There's advantages tax-wise to live in the country. They own rural property down toward Mexia.

Well, I just went out to my coach and looked closely at the license plate. There's a space shuttle silhouette, sure enough, but there's no defining markings on it that designate it as any particular shuttle. Let alone the Columbia.

I don't get into paying more to the state for anything, since I don't trust them with any more of my money than they require from me. I'll pass on it.

Yeah, guess it's just a random shuttle then, wish I would of had it on my plate. I agree with you skid roe joe, but I'm not a fan of the new standard plate, I think the Columbia plate would be cool I know license plates aren't a big deal, but I like to travel to different states and I want something cool to represent Texas with and be proud to display it. This new plate, just doesn't do it for me...

I hesitate to want to willingly and publicly show my preferences for anything on my vehicle's license plates. Even if it were free of charge to make a selection. You never know who's going to take offense to Texas A&M University logo plates, or THE University of Texas (UT) logo plates and key or burn your car. If I had to go with one of them, I'd choose the Texas Horned Toad. Ha!

Here's the vintage of plates (with the generic space shuttle) that my MB and coach carry. NOT my actual plates:

When I was a kid growing up The hornie toads were a common creature to my area of north Tx But dissappeared because their food source the red carpenter ants were displaced by the invading fire ants and now its a west texas creature mainly, 20 yrs ago they were still seen just west of Ft worth. I havent seen one in 30 ys.
