It sure is cold....

Well, it is -3 at my place in central Oklahoma. The ice and snow is so bad the DPS here has shut down the highways going in and out of Tulsa for a few hours because the roads are all clogged up with wrecks and jack-knifed trucks.

The guy across the street is warming up his truck. I can hear his power steering pump whining from 50 yards away.

The roof of the Hard Rock Casino here caved in from the snow. No one was hurt.

So... Is it Snowmageddon at your place, too?

I just checked my iPhone . . . Phoenix has the same outside temp as Portland, OR at 38F and is just a few degrees warmer than NYC.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament Pro-Am was cancelled today due to the weather.

Nah, it rained all day and is pretty average temperature right now. This "ice storm" was nothing but a bunch of hot air (ha, ha, ...ha)

Edit: Actually scratch that, I just went outside for some fresh air from work and its 40*F and sunny all the snow is melting quickly but it will be miserably foggy as soon as the sun goes down

Our average yearly is 49", we're over 50" already and counting. We've had a 22" and a 14" storm with weekly 2-4" in between. The biggest problem for us is there hasn't been any melting in between so there hasn't been anywhere to put the stuff for the past 4-5 snow falls, I've been pushing it out into the street and tapering it into the mounds. My single-stage snowblower is almost useless since it can't always throw the snow over the mounds on either side of the sidewalk so I've had to break out the old two-stage which will throw it over the snowshelf and onto the street.

I'd be b!tching a lot more if I wasn't getting paid for it.

Thankfully it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the forecast. Hard to believe that, huh?

Don't get me wrong, plowing it sucked. Essentially 2" of saturated crap that just doesn't want to move. But considering the wails of 1/4-1/2" of ice, yet another "storm of the century"-type storm, it didn't live up to the hype.

At the moment, in the southernmost tip of New Jersey, it's a balmy 60 degrees. Lots of sunshine. Nicest day in a couple of months. The wind is gradually shifting around to the WNW and stiffening. Cold is on the way.

Tom, is there ice in Philly? I have to go to CC tomorrow for an afternoon matinee @ Walnut Street Theatre

Denver...

It was -11F in Denver this morning... not used to this kind of cold here. In the mountains, maybe... Clearing up today and due for a modest warm up over the next few days - already sunny.

Almost nothing here at this point. It was nasty this morning but now that the sun is out and warming up, everything is melting. Roads are just soaked from melting snow and the earlier rain so it might freeze up later tonight.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll be ok. It's an easy get to from the Ben. Amadeus on stage. Should be interesting.

Do me a favor. Pump some heat into the Pavillion. Those guys turned cold as ice.

Well, in good old Port Lambton it's colder than a kiss from the ex wife. Remember when you were in school and some kid dared you to stick your tounge on the metal swings and it pulled a big hunk of skin off? Yeah, that kind of cold.
I have a 60/85 White tractor with a blade on the back. Front wheel assist and heated cab. As long as I leave it plugged in it will start right up. Makes quick work of our long drive way. Still have to shovel around the house a bit but it doesn't take long. I think it was - 26C last night with wind chill factor thrown in and I'm in southern Canada.
Sun is starting to come out a bit so I think this BIG storm is pretty much over. Maybe 6 -8 inches total. If the wind starts to come up that will be a different story as it will drift in very quickly with all of this loose stuff laying around.
