I think it is a face saving way of asking for aid. So, the question is this. What do we do? More important, what will they do for it? If by giving them the money they will give us something else we want because it buys them some sort of credibility, it might not be a bad idea.

Think about this. If you are an addict or about to become one, doesn't it behoove me to give you a "payday advance" on your high times? After all, if you are weaned off the drugs, you are independent. As an addict, I get to tell you to go on your knees and "speak into the microphone" when I want you to.

It won't matter that government won't last for 18 months after we leave.

We've already paid for that war with money and lives; now they can go f*** themselves.

I guess we could leave all the unexploded ordinance, including the enriched uranium rounds as a downpayment.

The country does not need financial help. They can generate plenty of income from oil sales. The problem is getting money or food to those who need it. Corruption is the problem.

In theory, yes. But in the chaos, it might not be so easy. Still, is it that bad to get a guy hooked so they need our money?

As soon as they repay (in oil at $25 a barrel) the entire amount that it cost the Us and allies to free them.
And toss in a couple hundred thousand each for every servive member KIA and wounded then MAYBE JUST MAYBE we will give you $1 Billion. ( Like a student loan $50 bucks a month for the next 300 years)
