Motorola Xoom VS iPad

Because of a new job i'm in great need of a highly mobile multi-mission electronic organizer.

I've been playing around with an iPad over the past week and while i've liked some things, it has mostly managed to get on my nerves. I was highly annoyed by the number of restrictions Apple forces upon you while browsing or trying to change settings. However it was the calendar that ticked me off the most. It just wasn't intuitive to use and I question it's ability to upload calendar updates. (I will need my calendar to be visible to 2 or 3 other people even if I make last minute changes)

I recently found out about the Motorola Xoom so today I went into a store to play around with one today. I have to say that I liked it . The calendar program was damn near perfect and of course it uses a lot of google software. I'm hoping that it will at least be compatible with microsoft Outlook (And possibly Microsoft Dynamics or other CRM programs)

I've always looked at the iPad as nothing more then a scaled up iPhone so i'm definitely leaning towards the Xoom on this.

Any thoughts?

My android does not sync with outlook, I had to put them in google mail by importing a data file. No back and forth at all

I was going to say Xoom because if it's between the two options, I wouldn't want the iCrap.

Especially because the iPad will most likely have an even newer version soon after getting the latest one and that's all just very annoying...

If the calendar is the most important part to you, and you've played around with both, and the Xoom is better, definitely go with that. Afraid I do not know what it is compatible with but I'm sure someone will be able to tell you. Have you looked at any other options yet?

Oh, and if the Xoom is good with google, then DEFINITELY do it. Also check to see if it is better with changing settings than the iPad. Best of luck in your search, sir! Let me know what you end up with.

My droid works fine with Gmail calendar. When I enter the appointment there is a portion called "calendar' under the times and the 'all day' selection. I go into that, select my Gmail and it updates nearly instantly. Anyone who looks at the gmail calendar an see the appointments.

You can always jailbreak your Ipad. All you do is go to a website.

androids/droids can sync with outlook very easily....I have one laying on my desk that is this very moment.

I cannot stand apple products. I played with an iPad at the verizon store and wanted to smash it after 5 minutes. The only thing worse is a whole computer running their OS....

can you elaborate for the OP and for me. I tried a few things and no joy. I can sinc perfectly with gmail, they are the same for the android, but MS Outlook is a whole nother ball game. sinc to me means it will instantly get emails and contact differences matched up when you plug it to the computer. I did a one time import to get my conacts but email, fagetaboutit. My Co is eventually migrating to gmail so its only temprary and didnt sway my decision. Andriod is pretty awesome

I would use the Outlook gmail conduit its a tiny program and it will sync with your outlook wireless and real time.

And there is about a thousand other ways to do it but that seems to be the easiest to most people. If your IT will allow why don't you simply install exchange on your phone?

No app needed on the phone just install the conduit and it will sync with your gmail, make sure you have calendar and contact sync enabled on the phone.

Android comes with exchange support on board so you may not even have to mess with all of that, ask your IT department what the exchange settings are.

Have Kevin hack it and turn it into a phone, or whatever.
