BMW 2002 racer (Tom W., you tuned in?)

Now THAT'S spiffy!

1969 BMW 2002/1600ti SCCA GT Race Car .VIN 1665393. Black with red and yellow stripe (German flag livery).Built by Mr. Paul Fortner (Oklahoma City) in 1977/78. Fiberglass hood and rear deck lid. Lexan windows. Race header & exhaust, 4 spd., 100% locked rear diff, full cage, racing seat, 5 point harness. Alpina quick steering rack and suspension, Pertronix Ignition. Three sets of wheels/tires. Raced by James Kimbrough (among others) . SCCA logbook, engine build sheet, etc. Raced 1982-1990 (GT-2, 3 & 4) Extensive, well documented history with photos, An absolute excellent opportunity for vintage racing, club racing or to add to any enthusiast's collection $8950.00.

Looks like a freakin' blast! My sis has a pair of 2002's that I drove the last time I was out visiting her. I've always loved the look of them but that was the first time I'd ever driven one. Really is a fun little car, especially with the standard trans.

It looks to be a sweet vintage racer candidate.

It might be a good autocrosser but I am not sure what class it would be in and in most classes the roll cage would have to go to reduce weight!

I would just autocross it like I do now, in the for fun catagory. I was never good enough to win, so I pay my $35 as a having a blast fee and let them put me in whatever catagory they want.

2002s are very cool, I wish I had the money to put together the E9 sitting in the back of my garage...
