This is like suggesting all Mercedes owners are racists because one MB owner makes a racist joke.

There are idiots everywhere and in all groups. It's a cheap shot at any group to assume one bad apple ruins the whole bunch.

If one can convince a large proportion of the population of a particular thing, it doesn't matter whether it is true or factual. It becomes the consensual reality from which we judge.

By the way, I have had a number of Tea Party members tell me there was only one thing about Obama they did not like.

Could it be his disastrous mismanagement of the economy, or his inability to follow a consistent foreign policy , or maybe the way he assisted Pelosi and Reid in ramming through health care that we cannot afford, or perhaps running up TRILLIONS in new spending debt?

It's a sin, particularly when he had such a thriving economic and foreign policy environment as a baseline when he came into office.

I heard those comments before he was elected. The people I heard commenting on his race knew nothing about his policies or his background and did not want to.

One of them recently asked me if I knew any solution to finding insurance for his son who has a serious medical condition. I told him the HCA would kick in soon so help was on the way.

He replied not if he had anything to do with it. He intends to vote for anyone but Obama. He readily admits he knows nothing about what is currently going on in DC, all he knows is that Obama is not white. I guess you could call him a single issue voter.

There are plenty of people in this country who just can't accept a black man as president. I don't know how many of them are poor, old, backwoods, or tea party.

Everyone knows there are racists in the world. You can come up with a lot of anecdotes about racial incidents. Here is another: A lot of people voted for Obama because he's black.

I never would have voted for McCain/Palin no matter what color they were, so Obama's race made no difference in my vote, but his race was in the plus column on my score sheet. To steal a phrase from Joe Biden, I think it's a BFD that the United States has a black president, a real BFD.
