I'm on my second LS and it's one hell of a machine. 290hp, 27 mpg highway, never breaks, quiet as a church. I'm on my second, and yes, it's not as exciting as a 5-series or an E-class, but it also doesn't cost me $2000 every time the Check Engine light comes on.

IDK, my 240D seems to be able to hold at 80-85 mph indicated no sweat, once it gets there

Lexus makes me want to vomit. It's a souless, ugly, trend following POS Toyota wannabe Mercedes. I drive my 240D all over the place, all the time, over long distances with a smile on my face. The day I drive a Lexus POS wannabe social climbing piece of trend following German car copying trash is the day I die. Hahahahaha!!!!!

Oh and did I tell you that I hate Lexus! So many vulgarities I'd like to hurl out at this car but I will curb my tongue to keep this place civil.

Well, after having been t-boned by a Ford Explorer at 50 mph in my first 87 300D, my feeling is it's pretty damned hard to die in a Mercedes, thank gawd.

And that 87 had no trouble getting up to 85 in one heck of a hurry if I wanted - and do 30 mpg once it was there. Those two extra cylinders and a turbo make one heck of a difference.

What is all this "souless" crap? Cars are machines, they certainly have never had souls. I've never heard anything more ridiculous, from what I assume are grown men, in my life.

This is how I feel about Lexus. I hate the car for many reasons. Emotions don't have to have a rational basis.

Yeah you really have no rational reason to hate lexus other than the fact that Lexus came out of nowhere and beat Mercedes at its own game. I mean really, which do think is more likely to leave you on the side of the road, a 15 year old Lexus or a 15 year old Benz? If anything Lexus forced mercedes to up its game and thats a good thing. They are finally catching up.

Hmmm. And which is likely to leave you dead on the side of the road in the event of a serious accident? I'd say Lexus is the clear winner. Lexus sucks.

They just have no spirit. I couldn't explain it in any other way. I get a different feeling driving our 740iL, which just feels solid, responsive and quick, than I do driving my 560 which feels balanced, steadfast and a Q-ship.

It's why I drive a Mercedes and not a Kia. They feel 'different' when you're at the wheel. They don't feel like they were meant just to get you from point A to B like an economy car, but to be an enjoyable experience.

Definitely not referring to an 'actual' spirit or soul.

That's true, Mercedes tends to be high on the "snore-o-meter" scale when it comes to a driving experience.

X2. I like the driving dynamics of the BMW much more.
