What's really nuts is that a businessman successfully pulled off to the side and yanked the gas pedal out of the mat on the same car the CHP officer and his family died in a few weeks before. I have a feeling the officer was going a bit faster than normal, which is fairly common, and that his family freaking out didn't help things. It's crazy how something like an extra 10mph and having other people in the car can really change the dynamic of the situation.
