300ce Custom Car Line Up
Can 300ce enthusiasts post pics of their custom 300ce's or e320 coupes. I have heard of guys doing 2jz-gte swaps, wanting to do LS1 swaps, and dream car 500ce's. Can anyone post and discuss their custom cars.
I'd like to make a custom 300ce but I don't know where to start. My dream would be a 500ce. I have the 500e donor car and would seriously use it to make a 500ce. I know the 500e is worth a lot and is a very sought after car, but I think the motor belongs in the 300ce. MB made the coupe in a 600 model, but the body is no where as classic as the 300ce/e320 coupe. I am in San Diego. Any suggestions are appreciated. I want to move past the dreaming and talking stage. I would even consider an LS1 set up if I can find a Mercedes mechanic that is also well read on LS1 swaps.m |

This could turn into a great project.
Don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE to keep the engine Mercedes-Benz. I am certain there will be a few who will log in just to type that in. With exception to the 500E/E500, these cars are practically worth nothing (300E, 400E, 300CE, E320, E420, etc.) and will most likely never go up in value. There are still so many of them on the road and you can do whatever you want to them. I think an LS1 swap would be neat. Repair parts and upgrade parts are VERY easy to come by obviously, but since you are already on the West coast, you have a plethora of tuning and customization shops who can order or import what you need at any time. Engine ideas: - Toyota 2JZ-GTE Inline 6 (Japanese) - Nissan RB26DETT Inline 6 (Japanese) - Ford Falcon 4.0L Inline 6 (Australian) - Chevy LS Series of V8s (American) - Mazda Rotary 13B-REW or 20B-REW (Japanese) My two favorite engines are inline 6s and rotaries. As with all of these swaps, maybe the best method is to take the engine, transmission, and rear differential out of the car it is coming from and then have a custom drive shaft, and half axles made to adapt to the 300CE. Of course there are other challenges such as mounting adapters, fuel line location, etc... but if you go through it all methodically...

Secure a decent fabricator beforehand. My M111 2.3 turbo project was canned after waiting a year for a turbo manifold. Read anyone's build threads in the performance paddock, and that's the single most crucial issue on actually getting the thing done. And if you want a "shell" with manual windows, custom d-shaft, 3.69 final drive 1992 300CE, lemme know. It's in Bakersfield.

2jz-gte
I like in-line 6's and I think the most likely route will be the 2jz-gte cause a handfull of guys have done it and I think they already sell engine mounting kits for it.
Maybe I should just lose the infatuation for the 300ce/e320 body style and move on to increasing the horsepower in my 500e and go sedan and quit thinking I am a pimp with the 300ce windows rolled down . . . . |

Or graft some 500e rear fenders onto that CE, along with swapping the fronts, and you'll have a one of a kind.

Thinking out of the box
Hey guys, what do you think of instead of cutting the engine bay in the 300ce to drop the 500e motor, instead, keep the 500e in tact, and have a body guy take the 300ce body and weld it together onto the 500e. I know the 500e is 4 inches longer, but lets find out what it will look like and see if it could work?
