Nevada gunman with AK47 shoots up mall, but vic with handgun does not return fire

Gunman in Carson City NV goes into IHOP and opens fire on group of uniformed National Gaurdsman, killing some of them, goes out to his vehicle and drives in circles in parking lot and empties clips into surrounding buildings.

Owner of a BBQ business gets his storfrot shot out, and has a loaded handgun but did not return fire because he did not want to draw attention to himself and felt that he was outgunmed anyway by the AK.

Very, very sad. A similar thing happens in war quite often, which is why they instituted more modern training methods after WWII and Korea.

Three fine fellow citizens who volunteer to don the uniform, man the weapons, answer the call, and potentially render the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve the very system of governance that protects and guarantees the right of any person to be so disrespectful and flippant about such a serious happening are summarily executed for no apparent reason and others are severely wounded and you think it’s joke time. If I’m not mistaken and recall correctly you have never served like these three murdered men have, don’t you think that someone like you should demonstrate a greater measure of appreciation and respect; at the very least you could just keep your f***ing mouth shut.

My sincerest apologies.

It is not the event I disregard, only the location of where my response was conjured.

However, your displaced anger is just as inappropriate... service, or no service.

How do you figure it is "displaced" anger? Even if I had not served my country, I find the context of your humor to be extremely disrespectful.

Jeeees!

It was a joke. It had nothing to do with the NG victims.

Uniformed people die so others can enjoy the privilege of driving. Inconsiderate drivers use the privilege to kill more on the road. Worldwide somewhere around 3000 people a day die from vehicle crashes. That shows disrespect to the extreme. Cracking a joke to deal with horror is normal.

I can understand that business owner that felt he was outgunned. I have heard it was a shotgun and that it was a handgun....in either case he was outgunned, unless he had a clear shot from a concealed position....taking a shot would have been very risky, and depending on exactly what he had...foolhardy.

At least we will be spared the expense and trouble of a trial. We just won't have the satisfaction of being the one to take him out of the gene pool because he deprived us of that as well as the disruption and loss for the friends and families of his victims.

Correct, just because one has a gun does not mean you automatically use it.
