Distillery tours?

Scottish whiskey tours are beyond my budget but has anyone been on a Kentucky bourbon tour?

It sounds like it could be a lot of fun to visit the Jim Beam, Jacque Daniels, Wild Turkey, etc all on the same trip.

Has anyone here done this?

I'm thinking it might be a something different to do.

I toured the Jack Daniels distillery several years ago. It was fascinating and cool to see. Ironically it's a dry county so no samples.

I would do it again if I was back in the area and it would be great to do in conjunction with the others. Do it and let us know!

99.9% of the Scottish Distilleries are free to walk in. There are many small one, producing limited numbers per year and they sell almost everything abroad.
In town called Pitlochry (about 75 miles north of Edinburgh is located the smallest distillery in the world. Only 3 people work there but the export is mostly to the US. Average bottle is $120 + but they never sell anything younger than 10 years. The top one is 30 years old whiskey for $400 a pop
The Dewar's whiskey is produced in Pitlochry as well.

it very common for Chemical engineering depts at universities to organize such tours for their final year students. Many will allow post grad professionals to tag along. The tours are a bit more technical than tourist type tours. Much more fun when you understand what is really going on !!

Oh that must be the tour to take then...

I did a Scottish distillery tour about 4 years ago. The tour was as dull as ditch water - but the hostess => WOW!!!! WHAT A CORKER! She was a seriously lush woman.
