^ He was a tremendous driver and self made too, that I admire, but taking risks, as you mention, has it's own price.
Drivers didn't like the HANS device either.

They know the risks. There has not been an Indy car fatality in 10 years. I bet more have died during football practice in high school than that. Keep it in perspective. Its RACING. Its DANGEROUS. Those guys are doing what they love.

The promoters and administration of the IRL need to be sued out of their shorts for putting thirty four cars along with so many inexperienced drivers on that very dangerous tight track.
The tough economic times at present mean race car drivers too are afraid of losing their jobs and getting into cars and racing when they should be refusing to drive in a situation that is too danerous.
