Personally I think people who get banned should just stay banned permanently. Its kind of silly IMO for people to just keep coming back. Majority of the time they conduct themselves in the same manner as they did before.

I wasn't the one who banned him. I did ask him to stop with the incendiary political threads that were the source of 90% of the trouble on here, but he didn't.

His threads caused too much trouble, too much work for us. They all had an inflammatory liberal political slant that made productive conversation nearly impossible. 99.9% of his posts were political, and no technical contribution to the board whatsoever. Things have been much calmer here in OD since. If you look back in previous threads all of this has been discussed ad nauseum, and I'm not going to waste any time continuing it.

Also, a little reminder:

Implying that we take pleasure in banning people is pretty offensive, especially considering all the abuse myself and other moderators take and allow people to continue to post. If we were power hungry and ban happy, this forum would be missing alot more people. We volunteered to help out; no sinister intention at least in my case.
