This is a coalition to be feared

Occupy Memphis, tea party members meet - Yahoo! News

Talk about strange bedfellows.
I think, though, that the differences are fewer than the similarities. Mainly, one is clean cut and the other is kind of scruffy.

One group is sick of the fact that individual rights have been lost to the government, and the other is sick of the fact that the government has been lost to the corporations. Perhaps its time for them to both figure out they have the same problem. I don't hold out much hope because the Tea Party's people have got to be the most heavily propagandized group in human history. They listen to idiots like Glenn Beck tell them that this is all the fault of some shadowy socialist conspiracy that's all part of Jesus coming back, while old Glenn and the rest of the Right Wing Propaganda Machine get their million dollar payoffs from the corporations just like our corrupt government does. When the Tea Party finally figures out that corporations are nations unto themselves with worldwide interests that really have no vested interest in the welfare of the United States, and that they have purchased the government of the United States using our own laws against us in order to complete their realization of global government consisting of corporate boards instead of countries, it will probably be too late for them. They'll still be holding up signs saying Obama was born in Kenya while their jobs go to Burma, because that's what Fox News told them to go do. Just look at the candidates that have morphed out of the Tea Party movement, all of them sprung off of the Glenn Beck Idiot Movement, flaming off one at a time in a burst of stupidity, because that is what they represent, stupidity.

Exactly right, IMHO.

I agree with that part. You might be wrong about the rest. Let's hope so.

What I see is that the world, meanwhile, has gone this way, and left us behind:

Democratic socialism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What both groups are protesting is that America is being left behind. What one group knows is that this seems to be the result of a country that has turned further and further right, while the more successful countries have been integrating the best ideas of both their right and left, because their democratic systems simply work better than ours. Our political systems were organized for the purpose of exploiting a virgin land, and are essentially winner-take-the-spoils systems that no longer work in a modern technological world, which requires team work and a government that is a referee, not one of the spoils to be had by the winner. Sad we have evolved a political and media class that has found that it can make lots of money by keeping us eternally divided.

There is clearly no hope for your convoluted "logic."

Feel free to use logic in the first place.
"Global government", "corporate boards"

The stuff you write is more suited to ill-printed, mimeographed leaflets that you pick up from unshaven fellows hanging around the student union.

Your view of democratic socialism wouldn't work, because you see no good ideas from the right. You are an avowed leftist, who wants no-one but those like yourself holding a position of power.
Give me a good idea from the right...in your opinion.

So you think that multi-national corporations are somehow, like, not multi-national? The European models in use in Norway and Finland are excellent examples of how traditional capitalism, when melded with socialism, results in an economic model that is like, beating our brains out in the marketplace. Businesses have lower healthcare costs, for example, because health care costs are born by the government, instead of by the company as it is here, for example. An American car has over $5,000 of direct health care and pension costs built into it. A German car does not. The Germany economy booms. Ours, does not. You need to lose the whole dirty hippy pinko thing, dude, like leave the 60's, and start understanding the economics going on. We are losing to blended economies because they work better. A country with regulated or state owned electric companies are going to lower the overhead of their businesses because they can buy electricity for their manufacturing plants cheaper. These companies also don't need to worry about buying expensive private health insurance for their employees because the state provides it. In Norway, they don't have to worry about the banks stealing all the money, because the states own the banks. These countries don't suffer from your dirty hippy syndrome, they are finding out that our anti-regulation economy simply does not work in the modern global economy, there are simply things which the state does better. I haven't seen a lot of riots in Canada lately, have you? Perhaps that is because the things that make life better like good healthcare and pensions are guaranteed by the state. American right wingers think that taking those things away are a smart thing. Canadian right wingers, or French, whatever, don't even argue such things. In their countries, the state protects the people from the ravages of extreme capitalism, and the ravages of extreme socialism, and instead uses the best features of both. We should get a clue.

I would keep aware that the Tea Party is headed by Dick Army ,one of the biggest lobbiest in DC, Not to mention another head of the party behind the scenes played a main part in the Abromoff camp ,HELLO. The fact that their anti tax, less govt is a big ploy to get votes ,the camp has been a big funding tree of the Republicans for some 15 yrs plus. Its alot of smoke and mirrors if you look thru their disguise.

You have got to be joking or you are astonishingly naive.

I don't know if this is off topic or not, but....

I can still remember the first conversation I had with some folks about the National Health Care thing in Canada and England. I was told that it was just a matter of time before both nations were doomed but the logic behind the 'doomed' was so silly I can't remember it.

This conversation was in 1971. England might not be what it once was, but Canada seems to be doing better than it was in the 60's.

Could it be that National Health Care was not as much of a factor in their economies as it was predicted to be?

The Tea Party is the creation of the Koch Brothers. Greedy right wing conservative christian nuts. (just in case people forgot that. i won't mention bot's name. oops, sorry, i guess i did. i keep forgetting about the "libertarian" drama. maybe if i go to the Cato website, i can be convinced. )
