Some of us have been members of this forum from pretty much day one. I'm not far from day one. I recall you mentioning in numerous posts when you were "Larry Bible" over on the tech forum - that you held a degree in Electrical Engineering. If I'm not mistaken - your undergraduate work took place at North Texas State University. |
Thanks Mike, It would not surprise me if you are correct... That is pretty close to where he lives now and is not one of those pansy majors like Sociology where one would need to be interested in people to do well.... electricity follows the rules... know the rules and you know what is going to happen.... none of that lack of control, variability and wishy washy stuff associated with people... A certainty and trust that there are rules for everything and they must be followed... no having to allow for differences in upbringing or culture or lack of 'reason'....
Denton was a nice town at that time.. with three women's colleges....I had a girlfriend at one when I was at Ft. Wolters... |

The subject in question is Larry... how did he manage to go to college and resist all that left wing ' humanity' crap he is always complaining about... and if one has a major where all the rules are fast and hard...it is possible to emerge without the normal liberalizing effects of a liberal arts education... which was what the first two years used to be designed to provide to the student...

So Larry is a product of one of the largest entitlement programs in US history that propelled this nation into prosperity: the irony.

And threads like this is why I try to avoid OD forum. Miserable. Wasteful. The only thing accomplished was that an argument was created.

This thread is now closed.
It has gotten to the point where it is beyond repair. So many people have violated the rules that I would have to infract nearly every participant. I am posting the rules here to remind everyone that Open Discussion is just that: the discussion of ideas. Personal attacks are not allowed. Please read the following: OD thread rules v6.0 - In addition to the OD rules below, please read the PeachParts forum rules before posting. 1. Political / Religious Threads Political and/or religious threads typically cause the most issues on OD. Members take strong positions on either side of an issue and the responses can quickly deteriorate into personal insults. Political/religious threads will be permitted provided the following conditions are met: a) The thread is not considered to be trolling. The original post of the thread shall be the determining factor. If the post is determined to be placed for the sole purpose of ranting or inflaming other members, the thread will be removed and the OP will receive a warning or an infraction. b) The thread proceeds with respectful discussion. If the thread degrades into personal insults or petty responses, infractions will be issued and/or the thread will be closed. c) Posts on political threads will be permitted if the post is relevant to the thread title and the discussion. If the post is placed strictly for ranting purposes and without an intent for honest discussion, it will earn a trolling infraction. If you want to rant against the system or the government do it elsewhere. 2. Personal Attacks Debate, discussion and and criticism are acceptable. Personal attacks are not. When the debate degrades to the point of attacking the person rather than the argument, the post will be considered unacceptable. Words such as "delusional", "idiotic", "moronic", "psychotic", etc. all refer to a person and will generally not be permitted. A warning will be issued when the personal attack is borderline and the intent was deemed to be not malicious. An infraction equal to one point will be issued for all blatant personal attacks. 3. Trolling Trolling and trollish behavior is not permitted. Trolling is defined as an inflammatory post used primarily for the purpose of irritating other members. Examples of trollish behavior include taking a thread off topic into a heated tangent, making offensive declarative statements, deliberately posting misinformation, and making personal accusations towards another forum member. The moderator of the respective forum will have the final determination of whether trolling was utilized for a specific post. 4. Quoted Post Modification Modifying a quoted post by changing the wording, omitting key phrases/words, or adding text for the purpose of belittling the poster's argument or reinforcing your own is forbidden. Shortening long posts, such as posting the first or last sentence, selecting portions of a post to argue/expand upon, and changing something benign in an unheated discussion is acceptable. 5. Infraction System This forum uses an infraction system to penalize violations of the forum rules, to track ongoing violations, and to ban multiple offenders. The infraction system is the primary way of moderating the forum, however, the moderators reserve the right to supersede the infraction system and take whatever actions are deemed necessary to settle a specific situation. Operation of the System: There are two types of penalties - warnings and infractions. Warnings do not have any points associated with them. Infractions are usually worth 1 point and expire 6 months from the issuing date. If 5 points are accumulated by a member, a ban is automatically issued by the system. The ban will remain in effect until the first infraction expires and the point count drops to 4. Some infractions carry more than one point. Any disrespect to a moderator, whether on the forum, or via PM will carry a minimum of 3 points. If the disrespect is serious, the member may be banned permanently. Visibility of the System: All members can see the warnings, infractions, and points accumulated by other members. Below the post count will be three numbers (if the member has any warnings or infractions). The first number is the number of warnings. The second number is the total number of infractions. The final number, in parentheses, is the total point count. All members can see if a specific post was deemed to be unacceptable. In the lower right hand corner of the post will be a yellow card if a warning was issued for that specific post. A red card will be present if an infraction was issued for that specific post. Usually, the word INAPPROPRIATE will also be added to the post by the moderator for all posts where an infraction has been issued. |
