Looks like you've struck it rich Click! They have to be clicking on you a hundred times a day, X $50? Quite a tidy sum! What will you do with all this money?

Yes, a virtual parade of parasites...

If you are an intestinal parasite are you more successful if you hang on and get fatter or if you pass on to a better place?

Speaking of, have you seen the "Reality" response to Allstate's "Mayhem" ads (which I find hysterical)? I don't know if it's a CT-only ad or if it's a cooperative-type deal.

I like the one where he says he's a teenaged girl in a pink SUV.

Back in the 50's, at least according to a Marketing Prof I once had, a large appliance company wanted to destroy a newcomer. The biggest problem the company had was that the newcomer built a better product and sold it for a lower price. They could have followed suit, but where's the profit in that?

So the company told every national office to go out and buy a few thousand of the newcomers products and then donate them to Goodwill or someplace. The company kept the Warranty cards and filled out the info on them in ways that would insure the newcomer would advertise to people who were not potential customers. For example, most older people would already own a full set of appliances, so the cards were filled out in such a way that it looked like all the customers were over 65 years old.

So the newcomer directed all of their advertising to a crowd that would never be in the market for their products. Not only did they waste their advertising budget but they saw their sales drop to almost nothing with-in six months.

If you want to see how tricky this advertising stuff can really be then forget watching 'Mad Men' and pick up a copy of Vance Packards 'The Hidden Persuaders'.

Fun stuff.

Haha love the spambot on here. Anyways I work in advertising and marketing (spent the day in Adwords meetings with a vendor). Plumping up a link artificially is not just illegal, but totally pointless in most cases. Companies use sem to home in on marketing opportunities. A successful sem transaction is one that brings in a new or unique user from paid search, who then makes a purchase of whatever you're selling. Otherwise, there is no ROI in any party, and it's in googles best interest to increase targeted revenue as well. Not to mention, every user session and experience is tracked so it would be really easy to find a hack In many cases (unless there is significant customized work done, again no ROI). fwiw, sem is a huge area of marketing and advertising for any retailer with an online presence. Many (even small) e-tailers have millions of keywords/tokens in their possession.

My DD gets pissed at me when I say she's a 12yo version of that. The 300 lb. streaker one is another classic.

A local personal injury lawyer started running spoof commercials featuring "Reality" who talks about how "Mayhem" and the insurance companies are out there to screw you.

It actually looks like a pretty high budget production which got me wondering if it was a lawyer co-op production or if he's just caught up with a tremendous amount of ambulances.
