Krugman's take on wacky Republican candidates

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/13/opinion/krugman-severe-conservative-syndrome.html

To paraphrase: Economic elites encouraged right wing social conservatives to bolster voting power and now these social conservatives have turned on the economic elites. Probably not too far off the mark.

I find it amazing how Obama's political fortunes have improved, no thanks to his own self, but to his opponents. Just running tapes of the crazy things these kooks have said in their debates is going to ruin them in the general election. I think we have moved from looking at a razor-close election, to seeing a looming disaster for the GOP. Loss of the House and Senate and the Presidency are all looking like the most logical result of the GOP's head long tumble into crazy. And now they want to make birth control an issue? Birth control? WTF?

I know a few fire-breathing social conservatives and they are fed up with the Party droning on and on about how they are the party of family values and then putting up a guy like Newt. They want a REAL social conservative for President, someone who will force the rest of the country to live by their rules.

When questioned they admit that the majority of the US will never see things their way on their own, but this is why it is important to elect a President who will force the majority of the US to live as they should.

I ask them why the Bushies did not do this during the six years they ruled the country and they come back with Bush was not a real Conservative. The guys running today are so this time things will be different.

And not a one of them understands the economy. They are well off people, so if you are broke it is your fault. The government can do nothing about the economy, but it can, as Santorum has pledged to do, stop all forms of birth control in the US.

And if you think all women are for birth control you have never met a member of the 'full quiver' movement. Google that term. These women are big Republican supporters and are quick to tell you that only they can save our country.

They are just not sure of what they are saving it from.

Krugman has some valid points. His analysis seems to be right on the money, so to speak...

Quiver Full... Lunatic fringe for sure. These are the people supporting Santorum...

While all women may not be for birth control, the vast majority of women know that birth control pills are prescribed for a vast number of other hormone related ailments. Short term, the GOP has scored some "That dirty Socialist Obama wants to take away my religion" claptrap, but long term, they are idiots for going down that crazy road. All women deserve equal access to health care.

I think most of these 'quiverfuls' are either Protestants or Mormons. So, even though they want a lot of kids, they're not opposed to contraception in principle like the Catholic hierarchy is (even though Catholic women and lots of priests are in favor of contraception). So I think the anti-contraception argument may even not find fertile ground in the quiverful movement.

If Krugman wants to see wacky, he can see the best example in the World by simply looking in the mirror. He's a total fruit cake.

Who should we believe, Larry or the Nobel Prize Committee?

Mr. Bible, who of the current GOP candidates for President would you, in your estimation, be the least "wacky?"

Read this before making up your mind about the integrity of the Nobel Prize Committee.

Subject: remember this woman

Irena Sendler

Died: May 12, 2008 (aged 98)

Warsaw, Poland

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive.

Irena smuggled Jewish infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried. She also carried a burlap sack in the back of her truck, for larger kids.

Irena kept a dog in the back
that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the
ghetto. The soldiers, of course, wanted nothing to do with the dog and the
barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

Ultimately, she was caught, however, and
the Nazi's broke both of her legs and arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the
kids she had smuggled out, in a glass jar that she buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and tried to reunite the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

In 2007 Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.
Can you believe that crap?

Later another politician, Barack Hussein Obama, won for his work as a community organizer for ACORN.

In MEMORIAM

- 65 YEARS LATER

It is now more than 65 years since the Second World War in Europe ended.

Now, more than ever, with Iran ,
and others, claiming the HOLOCAUST to be 'a myth'. It's imperative to make
sure the world never forgets, because there are others who would like to do it again.

Didn't Larry claim to talk to God on another thread? Kinda tips the scales in his favor...

I guess we now know you're voting for yourself. I'm thinking I'll stick with Nobel economists.

I suppose someone ought to ask God before presuming where she stands.

I am amazed how a patron like Krugman is being harolded, delivering such a superficial brush stroke view, esp. since most everybody awake has figured the situation already.

Whether fruitcake or not, it's this kind of ideological weihrauch, that will turn America gradually but rapidly into a crumble zone.

Now, that's by all means, a clearly offensive insinuation.
