Need to explore the picture industries need for old steel ,the need for period cars in the movie industry is one way you can expand your hobby. While visiting south texas some years back I happened upon a film being shot in a small erie town off the coast, the movie was Alamo Bay .

Logically? about $6,500- $9,000 top end of the spectrum. Mind, although it's an eight it's still a 4 door "cheesebox" as we say. Most Mopars of that vintage have extremely solid bodies and engines but suffer from terminally ratty interiors and this "as found" condition is reflected in the comparatively low prices these monuments of durability sell for.

Undervalued I know. But compared to the somewhat overpriced {in my opinion} Buick and Pontiac of that vintage, these mopars are considered boring but these are a helluva bargain and some of the most solid, dependable and well engineered vehicles of their time...or these for that matter. I still have my 52 Saratoga with 216,000 on the clock....only a new timing chain in the 331 hemi and new suspension bushings and shocks. Why not keep it? hell, it's cheap to insure as a classic and you can get interior kits, seat covers, original fabric padded dash rebuild etc. as you can afford it.

My dad had a 47 Chrysler; the speedometer lighting changes from white to yellow@30mph, gradually to pink, then solid Red @45-50mph..... a warning of the dangerous speeds you are enjoying.
You could help but stare at it.....

all of the mopars from the forties til mid fifties are very plain jane style wise, but as carleton says, monuments of durability. I still see about a 49 desoto being daily driven here in lafayette, clearly an unrestored original car nursed along for six decades.
