There's a worm in my Apple

They're coming to get you, Barbara.....

If you still think your Mac is bulletproof, impervious and zip-locked when it comes to viral incursions, let this latest infection fiasco lift the scales from your eyes: Over 600,000 Macs may have succumbed to a Flashback Trojan, a number arrived at after a Russia-based antivirus vendor deployed a method called “sink-holing” to glean distribution information about the malware.

Like the Titanic, Macs Aren’t Unsinkable: 600,000 Claimed Infected with Botnet Virus | Techland | TIME.com

I think Microsoft patched a few weeks ago. Maybe the folks over at Apple were too busy counting the money.

Seems like the hackers have decided that Apple is a fair target, and without the diligence which has been hammered into Microsoft, it could be trying days ahead for the fruity crowd.

Though it is unconfirmed, there are rumors of yet another available exploit for an ‘as-yet unpatched critical flaw in Java’ on sale. So if you haven't already disabled your Java client, please do so before this thing really becomes an outbreak.

you're just irked that a bot is a contaminated computer...

Java's developer, Oracle, issued a fix to the vulnerability on 14 February, but this did not work on Macintoshes as Apple manages Java updates to its computers.

Apple released its own "security update" on Wednesday - more than eight weeks later.

Thanks Apple!!

Not to mention that this affect only Mac's with 10.6 or Lion. One other point is that the virus is with Java and not with Apple software, this can not be said for Microsoft

Came in through Java which is managed by Apple for OSx. The trojan directly affected the operating system. Same deal with Windows machines, only Microsoft dealt with the issue 8 weeks prior.

All I'm pointing out here is that you Mac-heads should probably start paying attention, because the hackers are beginning to target Apple, and the folks over there have very little experience with defending their systems, as is evidenced by their lackadaisical response.

I've been paying attention, the first Java warning was issued in the beginning of February.
F-Secure have issued the detailed guide how to remove the infected parts from Apple as well.
Threat Description: Trojan-Downloader:OSX/Flashback.I
Owning iMac it doesn't mean that I don't keep an eye on the world, so let's not start with this Mac-heads crap...
Go and tell all this to a million who have paid $500 bucks for a phone or $700 for iPad

geez dude, don't get your panties in a bunch... Mac-heads was not intended as a slur.

Not sure what iPhone and iPad have to do with it, unless you are pointing out a market ripe for hacking.

forewarned is forewarned, even if it causes a gap in civil discourse
