'84 500SEL should I buy it?

200k+ miles. Some rips on seats. Clear coat peeled. Some rust around rear passenger wheel well. Apparently all electronics work. No valve rapping. New tires. New exhaust. How much should I spend? It's road ready to drive. $750.

I'm not sure what you'd use it for. Terrible gas mileage, so its not really worth driving until something expensive breaks and dumping.

my 84 got about 15, city/highway. but it was sure fun to drive. however, 200K suggests imminent engine collapse, i.e. $5K.

My 84 500 sec got 12 to 13 around town and up to 19 highway if driven easily. It was about bulletproof though and equal or less maintenance than a 617. It always had a hot start problem that you had to work around with your driving habits though. There may have been a simple fix of it but we never found it.

And it was a sweet driving machine with good handling.
