Has anyone went off-roading in their MB sedan?

I'm in a photo class at school in which we needed to take pictures of landscapes, so I thought what better landscapes than the ones of the Mojave desert! So I drove my 91 300E to Amboy going through Yucca Valley and the small as hell towns between there... I swear I did like 7+ miles on sand and loooong dirt roads getting photos of old abandoned houses and such..

It was actually really fun and the w124 did REALLY well even with all the shaking and shuttering because of the roads, my tires in the rear are needing to be changed which gave me some anxiety but she pulled through, made me realize though how bad I wish I had a 4matic 124 -_- Anyone have any stories to share or advice for such driving?? I did soft sand to hard dirt roads...

w123s and w124s are still common as taxis in poorer North African and Middle Eastern countries

I've driven my w123 on plenty of dirt roads in rural VA and on Mt. Desert Island.

Used to drive my '73 220D to Parker Canyon lake quite often. 23 miles off paved roads down a "graded" primitive road. It got quite interesting after/during the rainy seasons. Alas, they've paved most of the way now and the solitude of the lake is pretty much gone.

For a few months I used my 240D as a commuter to get to my job that was 10.5 miles from the paved road. It held up pretty well. I did manage to get a flat tire and once time I nicked the oil pan bad enough to cause a leak. I pulled it in the shop, drained it, pulled the pan, and had our fabricator weld over the hole for me. I only ended up being about an hour late getting home.
