The book was originally published by Scholastic. It's in my school library's young adult section, available to 8th graders with parent permission, what did you expect?

My wife has been doing the book series with her kids in reading class. They are all crazy about them. From what I've heard the books are far more graphically violent than the film was allowed to be in order to appease the nanny state. Apparently they figure the kids have to be protected from the movies but not the books which they've all already read.
