A Mercedes Design For the Living Room

Mercedes Design Furniture Coming in Late 2012

The furniture collection, which was developed in collaboration with designers from Formitalia, comprises one sofa, a chaise longue, a dining room table, various chairs, a sideboard, a shelf unit with integrated home theatre system, a chest of drawers and a bed. All the pieces are produced by Formitalia and will be sold worldwide via exclusive furniture stores, showrooms and interior design stores from October 2012. "We very much admire the superb design skills and high-quality materials of Mercedes-Benz and are delighted to be able to bring the typical Mercedes elegance and sense of well-being into the home", says Gianni Simone Overi, CEO of the Formitalia Luxury Group.

^I don't even want to know!

I've always wanted a car seat as a desk chair. I've seen it done before, and it takes minimal effort (just welding skills).

I wonder if they would sell me a seat out of an SLS...

I used to have a couple nice bucket seats that I put on skids and used as gaming chairs for the play station.

This will never work...replacement cushions will be made out of unobtainium, there won't be much of an aftermarket to even buy covers for the seating, and, if they're like the seats in my sl, sitting in them for time periods over 30 minutes would be impossible.

They have a lease option, but.....

1) Only you or someone mentioned in your homeowner's/renter's insurance can sit in them.
2) They can only be used for 20 minutes/day.
3) They must be cleaned every month or 10 hrs of use by a factory trained MB upholstery specialist.
4) DIY cleaning and maintenance is allowed...... under supervision by previously mentioned MB upholstery specialist.
5) An additional $1/minute is charged for use over the allotted lease agreement minutes.
6) Your pets will not be allowed to be on them or you will be required to buy out the lease.
7) Proof of homeowner's/renter's insurance and a registration fee will be required with your local government.

Somebody on this board has already done a MB design for the living room, with an old MB diesel front seat attached to a solid base

I think some of the designs also included electric seat adjustment too!

Padded with horsehair? I don't see a way to add pool noodles when they sag.

Lightbulb A good chair made from an fairly new old Volvo could be a good idea...

Back in 1966 a hippie neighbor in MZrin Cpounty Caifornia, had actually welded some rails on the bottom of an old VW seat; a decent piece of furniture and a good chair and conversation piece was made; and it gave me an idea.. never forgotten...

And lately I have been thinking about doing the same to a nice w124 or w126 passenger seat from a wrecked one in a junkyard in a suitable color.

Remember: they were designed by orthopedic back surgeons;

But actually the best, most highly acclaimed and most comfortable seats in the world are out of Volvos, and they are also designed by back surgeons..

So I will maybe look for one out of a ten year old Volvo C70 or something, and do it with them, if I can find one for cheap and in a color that does not make me want to throw up. A passenger side front one will be the newest looking, I think.

Take it out of a HUGE yard like Aadlen Bros. in Sun Valley in LA the the next time I take the Outback there, and haul it home and clean it as necessary, and then do it.
