Really sorry to hear about your loss.

And I wanna just beat the reporter upside the head for adding the last sentence.

Three motorcycles and several vehicles involved; investigators are still trying to sort out the mess.
Denise is my cousin; they have two grown children that live out-of-state, who now have to suddenly deal with the loss of both parents and the estate issues.
They can't find a Will.
Thoughts, prayers, good vibes of comfort should be sent their way.
They died doing what they liked best.
I just hope we can all learn to live this present life while we can.
Sorry for your loss.

I've been in a few MC accidents. I try to always have a plan B exit in mind if trouble comes my way, but another wreck and a lane crossover is hard to plan for. Then the ever present risk of momentary object-fixation can slow reaction time too. That's hard to train against.

Missouri, like all states, has intestacy laws that address no will situations.
RSMO-Chapter 474
Section 474-010 General rules of descent.

It also has a uniform simultaneous death law.
CHAPTER 471

For info on federal income tax issues, IRS Publication 559 explains a lot of it.

Missouri has no estate tax, so unless their combined estates are over 10 million, there should be no federal estate tax either.

Many years ago I was involved involved with an estate situation where Mom & Dad went to Scotland on vacation and were instantly killed when a truck collided with their rental car. In that case, they left two sons ages 12 & 14, iirc, who were subsequently raised by their aunt & uncle.

Again, my sincere condolences.

That accident probably wouldn't have been survivable in a miata or small car either.

Sorry for your loss. Hope they find a will. Settling an estate without a will and the grieving process cannot be easy. Note to all of us to have some kind of will just in case.

Thank to everyone for their condolences; their kids are working so hard to have a viewing today and funeral tomorrow that they haven't had a moment for it to sink in. ..... They said "it doesn't even seem our parents are gone and we have so much to do".
Dynalow thanks for the Missouri links; they have a probate lawyer so i hope everything goes smoothly.
