Slightly off topic, but I have to tell this one. My wife's brother was riding his bicycle down a very steep hill when he was a kid, and he scraped himself up bad. My wife said when she got home from school, that her brother had his mom's maxi pads taped all over his arms.

The earliest one of these kits I have seen was in a 1972 220D. It was in a small plastic tray that was mounted in the foot area of the passenger seat which was screwed to the kick panel.

The kit was small, perhaps, 6x4 inches, and looked as if it were added as an afterthought.

This was on a Euro Delivery car, by the way.

Clean and absorbent... What more could you want out of a bandage?

Work great in a pinch, although it does take away a few "man points" to have maxi pads taped to you.

All cars should have a basic first aid kit. Overkill is necessary, if you want it, and can afford it, buy first aid supplys and throw it in a small bag. Bandaids, small/large, gauze (rolled and pads), medical tape, and antibacterial cream/wipe/spray.

maxi pads work good as bandages in a pinch.
