Exclamation repainting the 15 holes rims

I posted a thread a month ago about what is the original colour paint is called on the 15 rims that came on the w126's and others in the late 80's. Everyone told me it is metallic silver, so does it matter what company of paint I get, as long as its for wheels and metallic silver?

I really need help on this because I want to do the rims soon now on my spring break and so, I am trying to get things prepared.

I have done this already last year to the rims with aluminum paint that was silver and the wheels turned out too dark! Was it maybe because the paint was for aluminum heads on engines?

I had 2 of my wheels repainted by my paint-shop man. I borrowed some of those colour slips from my Dads independant garage, and found a good match (I think it turned out to be some strange Nissan or Rover colour). It doesn't 'exactly' match if you put 2 wheels next to each other, and its hard to get the exact same finish, but there's not a hope you could ever notice even if you put one painted and one OEM wheel on the same side, so I'm happy.

later,

Russ

Try a site called www.paintscratch.com ,I believe they have wheel paint as well.Even if you only get the paint code from there, then get some mixed locally, good luck

don't paint... get them powder coated. all alloy rims are powder coated not painted to give them a long lasting finish. look in your phone book under sandblasting.
