Hyper Partisan Virus (HPV) is easily recognized by other people but nearly impossible to self-diagnose.

If you're talking about me, my bias is not partisan. My bias is against B.O. He needs to be GONE! He's a sickness that our country can't take another four years of. Give me a decent Democrat as a replacement that is better than Romney and I'll take him/her over B.O. B.O. stinks so bad that Right Guard won't even phase it.

Sometimes even the status quo is better than the totally unknown. The current situation may be a type of flip a coin situation. You lose no matter how it lands.

My money from an outsiders perspective is four more years. No matter how people feel about it. People will vote for him based on being even more fearful of what could replace him. It really could be worse will more than flit through their minds. You really need the strong emergence of a third party in the states. Same as we did.

The electoral system we have in place makes 3rd party presidential wins nearly impossible.

Who's a decent democrat in Ground Loop's eye? Strom Thurmond?

Yes it has been pretty obvious the two parties have some form of old boys club arrangement. Plus enabled this a long time ago to keep this the status quo. I see a third parties emergence as not too practical as well in the USA at least at this time.

Every time one of our principal two old line parties really messes up the third one grows in strength. Tends to keep them a little more in line.

A friend of mine a few years ago ran for political office and lost. He was somewhat down about it. So I simply asked him is it really that bad. That is to not to be able to get your fingers in the pie up to your elbows.

Actually, it's the individual state requirements, particularly the petition or fees, that's the biggest impediment. It take a lot of money and organization to get on the ballots in all states and territories. Getting votes is another matter.

Yes I kind of know the impossibility of it. The other issue is the political machines put up the choices basically when it comes right down to it. Like here you can vote for anyone you want as long as the individual is approved by the parties.

At our provincial levels that are somewhat simular to your state levels it suprised me just how much was owned outright by the old line parties of a comnmercial nature. Specifically the conservatives. The largest hotel in town for example when I first arrived here. Plus the largest appliance distributor in the maritimes was another one I was aware of.

This was kept very quiet and I only noticed it because I was involved comercially with those two operations. There has to be a lot more that I was never aware of. The conservative party controlled this province almost exclusivly until recent times.
