One out the insurer may have is your files would run on simular equipment to what you previously had if still available. If the theives had taken the files as well it may have been better claimwise.

A lawyer friend of mine who does mainly family and estate law sent me this reply.

Your files are part of your stock in trade. It's how you track your customers needs and are a platform for future designs. You'll probably need hire a lawyer on this one, Robert. Call if you need to talk about this.

Any additional thoughts?

The did take the files. The stolen files is what I am having a problem on how to make a claim for.

That does help. I was under the mistaken impression that you had the software but there was nothing available curently on the market to run them on.

I also cannot see them playing around too long as it impacts your earning ability.

Like I stated before, the are eager to settle for the FULL amount on the equipment claim. That tells me that maybe I could get money for the stolen data.

The adjuster has ignored me for three weeks now, I think it's time to call the Insurance Commissioner.

It would help make your case if you have documented your communications. Notes on when and who you called will go a long way. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just be able to summarize your actions with dates and times.

I have done that very thing my man. I called and asked for the adjuster's supervisor and the lady said that she would be in tomorrow and would call me first thing. The lady also said that she didn't blame me for getting upset. I have some friends on another forum that are helping me with the claim. It seems that this same problem has happened to other printing and sign shops. I will keep everyone posted.
