dl hughley The endangered species
Not sure if anyone watched this but it was an interesting program. Not what I expected.
The Dickson County Landfill update here seems to give a pretty good break down of what I have read so far. The last segment dealt with something called environmental racism. He mentioned a place called Dixon County, TN. I looked it up and it is real. The county is 95% white and 5% black. The county needed a site for a land fill and they put it in the 'black' part of town right behind a 150 acre black owned farm. The land fill leaked and put TCE and PCE in the water supply that gave two members of the family cancer. According to the program white families received a letter to discontinue use of the water due to health concerns while black families received a letter advising them that there was nothing to worry about. I have been looking for the letter and have found a few references but not the letter them selves. Also according to the show, settlements have already been received by the white families affected by the land fill poisoning but the Holts are still waiting. The accusations implied by Dickson County and the DL Hughley show are pretty strong. I do not think it is too far from the truth. Those with money seem to make the rules. Not many land fills in Beverly Hills or Bel Air. Poorer comunities of all races are going to be more likely to be abused by the system.
