Last Thoughts?

Now that it's all over but the crying, hopefully a definite victory for one side or the other without a repeat of 2000, any last thoughts or predictions before the polls close in about 18 hours and the results start coming in?

I would ask that everyone keep in mind Roy's wishes, and try to keep it civil - nothing to be gained at the last minute rehashing the same arguments - not like we're going to decide the outcome of the election here in OD.

At that, for my own part, here and now I'll offer up my humble apologies if I've angered or offended anyone over the past few months in any of the threads discussing this election, and politics in general.

My overall feelings on this election echo Roy's, and from what I've gathered, a few other people's as well - I can't remember an election where such poor choices for candidates were put forward by BOTH major parties - it's as if both parties have colluded to put forward any hack they want that will serve THEIR agendas, and the rest of us have little choice but to hold our noses and pick between the two - the only choice being whether we want red-colored or blue-colored horses*** served to us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next four years.

That's part of the reason I voted L this time around - not just for Johnson, but for every slot that had an L candidate listed, down to the local level. I was bloody tired of holding my nose and voting for the perceived lesser of two evils, voting for someone I knew was going to do a piss-poor job - just because the other guy looked even worse. I knew Johnson didn't stand a snowball's chance of winning, but that didn't matter - for ONCE, I voted for someone I AGREED with and actually WANTED to see get the job - and it felt DAMN GOOD. Somewhat of a "liberating" experience, if you'll pardon the pun.

I'm not playing THEIR game any more.

As far as how tonight's election results will go -

From what I've heard, watch Pennsylvania - if Willard manages to flip this state, and he does it in a decisive way such that it's called for him early on - around 9 PM predicted from a couple different sources - then I'd bet that it's game over for Obama.

If Obama holds onto PA, then it's a slugging match in the swing states. IMO, only Ohio and possibly VA are still in doubt - for my money, FL and NC will be Romney. As BC has said, if Obama gets Ohio and PA, it's four more years.

And if I get any of these predictions right, my next trick will be to get my dog to start crapping gold kruggerands.
