Exclamation You dredged up a memory....

wiki: Heinrich Bloch

The Lord's Prayer (also called the Pater Noster[1] or Our Father[2]) is a central prayer in Christianity. In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, it appears in two forms: in the Gospel of Matthew[3] as part of the discourse on ostentation in the Sermon on the Mount, and in the Gospel of Luke, which records Jesus being approached by "one of his disciples" with a request to teach them "to pray as John taught his disciples."[4] The prayer concludes with "deliver us from evil" in Matthew, and with "lead us not into temptation" in Luke. The liturgical form is Matthean. Some Christians, particularly Protestants, conclude the prayer with a doxology, an addendum appearing in some manuscripts of Matthew.

The prayer as it occurs in Matthew 6:9–13 (ESV) "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

As small children - raised as Episcopalians, every night we had to kneel in front of the bed with hands clasped, and listen as my father and mother led us in reciting the Lord's prayer.

Dad, a German guy that was born in San Francisco, was a typican German inasmuch as he was not particularly known for his sense of humor.

But he always said, reciting the prayer, in front of us,

"Lead us NOT into Penn Station."

Nevermind, he was only talking about military contractors, wall street greedheads, Senators from Mississippi that get paid not to grow rice on their tennis courts and mega-corporations, that wait for the welfare man to come around with the slop bucket.

NOT you and me.

is it really closed, or just clogged with people, making it as good as closed unless you want to wait forever?
