Post Complaint Department

I always wonder what is the most common complaint that you have when you take your car to get serviced. Is it the tech thats greases your new mat, or the price , the service . Just throw some at me. tell me your whoror stories. Hehehe.

I had a recall on an Aerostar van once to upgrade the brakes to the F150 truck type. As I was signing the invoice I noticed I was charged $22.50. I questioned it and the service manager was called in. "That's for the tire rotation" he said. I didn't ask for a rotation I said. "Well, due to the mileage they needed rotating". Make a long story short, I didn't pay but the SM tried to make me FEEL like I was stealing something. End of my relationship with that dealer.

When Park Place Motors bought out Beck Imports MB dealership a few years ago, the labor rates promptly went up from $85 to $100/hr...all while retaining the SAME sales and tech staff!!!

I used to be able to use their car wash facilities ANYTIME for free with a card that was given to me when I purchased the ML while it was Beck. That is no more.

Probably for the best, since any vehicle I bring comes back looking worse than when I bring it in...so now I tell them NOT to wash it!

But I must be getting better service, because the whole place has been remodeled, and they have a big screen TV and coffee?

A coworker took his car in and left it at the Honda dealer for a state safety inspection - a $10 job at the time I believe.

He returned to find that they had mixed up the cars on the lot, and had installed a sunroof in the car. We were laughing at him, because polite person that he is, he PAID for it! Ha!

Ha!

Still cracks me up that he actually paid for it.

Several years ago the serpentine belt on the 300E broke in a parking lot. I left the engine running for a few seconds, long enough to pull into a parking spot. Of course the check engine light came on since it was running but the smog pump was not turning.

After changing the belt in the parking lot I drove it home with the check engine light on - at that time I was not "in the know" about how to clear the light.

I called my local dealer and asked if there was an easy way to clear the light since I knew that there was no problem. "No, there isn't. You'll have to bring it in. We'll check the settings, calibrate everything and reset the light. That will be $120". What a ripoff. Fortunately I kept asking around until I got the truth.
