- Peter.

Maybe you could point out where the 2nd mentions AR-15's....

You just keep lumping everyone who doesn't agree entirely with your position as gun grabbing liberals, and you could not be further from the truth.

I knew an old guy out west who was a staunch Republican, ex-county sheriff who told the story of how he and the hippies who had been filling his little mountain town ended up becoming friends.
One situation had escalated to the point where the old timers come out packing...
Then the hippies broke out their weapons too, and all the old guys were suitably impressed and they had a real good old time comparing their guns.;)
After that they were all buddies and the town was a better place, and all because the hippies had serious guns, something the old timers never suspected.

It mentions it directly where it says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. When you illogically ban one type of gun under the pretense of "being reasonable" there is no logical reason why you cannot ban all guns given that the effect of an AR15 is identical to that of any other semi auto rifle that is functionally equivalent.

Therefore while you don't think you "need" one and are perfectly happy to assume "they" will only deprive others of their rights and that this will not affect you because you are a reasonable gun owner who doesn't see the need for such weapons, that is a logical fallacy.

You assume reason on the other side of the debate where none exists.

Prove it. Make a political hack comment like that, back it up with truth. If you were to really investigate the problem, you'll find that it isn't at the Federal level, but at how each individual school district manages their finances. I've been involved in two different school districts in my adult life, and can easily show how wasted money is the cause for begging for more money...lack of funding is rarely the culprit.

Texas cut education by $5.4 billion in 2012.

I'm a 100% with you but part of the problem is a lot of the athletic departments especially at the college level generate a butt load of cash for the school.

Come to Texas with talk like yours and they will run your ass out on a rail. Sports is the holy grail here. When I first moved here I was surprised that the local news covered high school sports on TV. We had a mother out here several years back kill another mother (or attempt ... I for get which) to get her daughter on the cheer squad. This is a *****ed up state when it comes to sports ( and a few other things).

How much "history" is cut out?

Maybe some "pre-history", but I doubt if much true history is eliminated.
