I think they should have kept him out for the season after his first knee injury a few weeks back. Of course he's going to want to be tough and play through the pain. He's young and fearless. The coach is supposed to be smart enough to know better. Knees are too important. I never liked Shanahan and now he's shown himself to be a real moron. They could have given their backup more seasoning. RG3 has a long career ahead of him or did anyway. His walking looks OK so one hopes he'll make a full recovery. I'm glad they lost. DB Shanahan would have played him next week.

Considering he was limping before the game started and Cousins is a pretty decent backup, yea there's no excuse. That decision pretty much erased everything RG3 and the Redskins achieved this year. It seems Shanahan is in some kind of denial.

I hope he gets the sack but you have to wonder where management was on this one. Him going back in that game a few weeks back after the initial injury was just incredible. It is to shake the head.

I heard that the doctor who OK'ed his earlier return was having serious doubts about that decision.

It's always easier Monday Morning Quarterbacking. The kid wanted to play, said he was hurt but not injured and thought he gave his team the best chance to win. They were up 14-0 so he was good enough to do that. Heck, even with the knee issues he's more mobile than Tom Brady. The scary thing with football is that serious injuries can occur at any time.

What was inexcusable was the field conditions at FedEx field. Just atrocious and it certainly contributed to RG3's re-injury in the 4th. With the tools available today (subsurface heating and ventilation, turf covers, nutrient packages, etc.), there's no reason they can't grow playable grass for the entire season or change over to Field Turf. I would be shocked if the 'skins aren't playing on artificial turf next season, especially given RG3's talents. The Patriots ditched their natural turf for Field Turf after one poor fall growing season (I could have salvaged it ) which better suited their transition from a battle in the trenches team to a quick route/long ball team.

I think it might be worse than that:

Mike Shanahan Lied When He Said That A Doctor Cleared Robert Griffin III To Play After He Sprained His Knee In Week 14
