Anyone using a D-Link Boxee Box?

Just curious. It's an interesting package but some reviews mention issues with high failure rates under warranty.

Any other feedback?

Kind of looks like a DVR combined with a Sling Box. Reading through the information, they're going to charge you $14.99 a month for the DVR service. Plus, if it's recording on a server onthe internet, I suspect it's going to use a lot of upload bandwidth, probably buffering in an internal hard drive and streaming it up to the internet based storage as time allows. But, that's just a guess.

As an alternate example, I have an older Tivo box that records about 80 hours, costs $10 a month for the programming service and also accesses things like Netflix, Pandora, etc... The only things it doesn't do is playback to any device like the Boxee.

Thanks but I'm mainly interested in it for accessing Netflix and other online content to my tv (it's the only media box that comes with a querty keyboard, as far as I am aware). I have no interest in gaming so I'm not interested in a gaming platform.

Actually here in Canada I'm not sure we get the same functionalities as the US version.

We looked over thing in my Human Tech-Interaction class and the industrial design is stupid

You can't put it on a shelf with other devices, it takes up an odd amount of space, the interface is rather clumsy and you can get an apple TV for less

Have you checked out Roku? I have a few of these boxes, and have had no problems with them.

And they are cheap.

Ditto Roku does all that, minus the full keyboard. Now if only there was something on Netflix worth watching?

Get a Roku and there are plenty of apps that will give you keyboard functionality for your iPod or smartphone.
