Interesting Perspective: Pravda-"Americans never give up your guns."
Full disclosure: I'm a gun owner (shotguns and rifle) but don't keep them in the house. Always considered myself pro-2nd amendment but not a member of the NRA. My father (ex-Coast Guard) isn't a gun owner, my late uncle (ex-Army & Navy) had a full stock of auto and semi-auto military guns. The Newtown shooting has me personally thinking something needs to be done, but I honestly don't know what. It's really been tearing at me internally. I think it's as much a mental health issue as it is a gun access issue.

If a Commie told you to jump off of a bridge, would you do so?

Depends on the reason.

Benz Fan, when other countries opine that we need to follow their lead with respect to restrictive gun laws, do you similarly think we should ignore them? Or should we only ignore the ones with which you disagree? |

Increased School Security; Airport like Security for all entering the School and Armed Guards or Police on the School Grounds. The School should be well Fenced in and the there could be sensors on the Fences to alert someone if someone trys to climb over them and helps keep Kids who want to ditch School on the School Grounds. Un-armed Voulnteers could be used simply to watch over things and to report them by Radio. Less expensive but there would still need to be a backround check done on them. The Airport type Security has the added advantage (X-ray Machine) of a chance to detect a lot of other items you don't want in the School like Drugs. (I worked at a Security Job as a Reader on the X-ray Machine; we were contracted to a local Cruise Line.) I think arming Teachers with Tazers is reasonable if it is voluntary. Not as likely to harm innocent people or generate a Law Suit.

I think murder should be outlawed.

We should just chill.
Right now, the biggest threat to my happiness (I have 2 children in elem. school) was the risk my wife takes when she drives out to drop them off and pick them up. (ie- vehicle accidents still end/affect more lives than gun violence). This latest shooting hasnt changed that. deaths and injuries due to firearms of all types is still too low for me to be concerned about. Maybe in the future this will change, but until then I'll gonna chill (trust the police/courts we have, and not legislate based on emotion) -John

no doubt the left wants to get rid of all guns. guns are the only thing standing between them and total world domination, part of the United Nations plan. They will implement house to house sweeps by 18 year old pimply faced National Guardsmen like they did in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. They will storm your house or apartment and turn the furniture upside down looking for anything more dangerous than a water pistol. Most people will give them up without so much as a wimper. On your knees and kiss the hem of the garment, slave. Meanwhile, we can all rest easy knowing the local gangs will surrender their firearms upon notice that it is illegal to own them...
If you're happy and you know it, clank your chains (clank clank). This is what they will do to your grandmother. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-taU9d26wT4 During a natural disaster and after they take your guns they will loot the local Wal-Mart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmQW6xLECUU one of the good guys..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLaKsbM0x3g Last edited by HuskyMan; 01-10-2013 at 05:28 PM. |

Did you know America is creating a memory wiping machine so none of us will know any history?
That Apple is releasing a cheap I-Phone? That more children are killed in America than any other country on earth? That the US is building mutant soldiers? That Russia has the most tech advanced military in the world? Yup, all true. I read it in today's issue of Pravda. By the way... Pravda is Russian for 'truth'. A popular Russian saying: There is no truth in Pravda. (It sounds funnier in Russian.) |

we need to take the pravada commentary with a grain of salt.
The population of Russia has increased by about 10 million people since the time of the Tsars. 1900 to 2000 census info. It was like 137 million in 1900 and about 140-150 million people in 2000. The population of the USA has gone from about 76 million in 1900 to over 300 million. On top of that, they have what, 3 times, 4 times the land mass? How many times can you fit the US in Russia? Our population concentrations have gone from rural to urban, how about theirs? We also don't have the same history of serf/lord that they do, either in Tsar times, or in the USSR times. Finally, I think some basic measures to ensure public safety can come in a lot of minor and slight forms that preserve the spirit of the 2nd amendment, yet promotes safer ownership, intelligent use, and awareness of the potential lethality of firearms. Yet everyone starts screaming at the tops of their lungs first off about jackbooted pimply faced national guardsmen. Give me a break When did reason get replaced by rhetoric and blind emotion? If anything spells danger for our country, its the ridiculous entrenchment of uninformed emotion without compromise or discussion.

The truth is that the murder rate has been in decline for approaching 30 years. No gun laws necessary.
