If you live in an area where sugar cane grows reasonably well, then there are probably some folks locally who have exactly what you need - plants that are suitable for local conditions, and experience with growing them.

cane is grown up here around Gainesville so there should be some around where you are. There are cane boils at various local places in the fall.

Sorry, I checked both the Honolulu and Hilo Airport vendors and they didn't have the sugar cane cuttings. They did have plumeria and other plants.

I looked at eBay and it seems the cuttings go for around $4 to $5
