Seems to me that you feel a bit guilty about being a rude as possible to this guy outside the forum who was unknowingly drawn into some silly debate, maybe a bit sheepish, or you wouldn't be so pissy for so long. Its ok.

Guess you missed the fundamental point.

Let me spell it out very clearly and slow, so that you can grasp the logic of what I am saying.
Many of us are rude and obnoxious in the OD and other forum environments given provocation, and in the heat of the debate. I have been no exception to this. Especially when people have long histories of disagreement.

However, Id be surprised if the majority of us who post on OD would write that kind of email in that kind of tone to someone only tentatively related to a ridiculous pissing contest and do so out of the blue. You wanted to set him straight, fine, but id expect most people would exercise a modicum of civility.
If thats how you interact with everyone, its no wonder you are so miserable. People don't like being treated like shlt, even if they are obviously in the wrong, and especially if there is no current reason for someone to fly in with insults and threats.

The point ive made is that the exact same result can be achieved with just a fraction of politeness, and you shouldn't be proud of your email to Tom Hansen. It does not cast you in the greatest light. Since this is impossible for you, I feel bad for you. Life in your eyes must be a series of having to set idiots straight, then going home to grumble about how they didn't like it alone and angry.
