Almost got nailed by an old lady in a volvo today....

I was coming out of the grocery store in the area marked for cars to stop for people exiting the store. A white haired little old lady was coming up in a blue volvo, one of the square rigger ones.....she slowed down, I thought "she sees me and is stopping" and stepped in front of her car, just then she gunned it. Yikes! I had to jump back to avoid getting nailed. I cursed with great vigor.

She never saw me.

i think it is the closest to being run over I have ever come.

Were you looking at a Mercedes for sale in the parking lot or something?

I'm assuming you'd like this moved to the OD.

Thanks, Tyler.

No I was looking right at that old broad. I thought she looked right at me too.

If this had happened before my knee surgery I don't know if I could have avoided being hit or not. It was amazing.

That would have been considered expected behavior for a Volvo driver over here !!!!!
Good to here that you were not injured !!

Yet another great escape. I'm glad you're OK.

On a slightly different note - where I come from "getting nailed" means something slightly different...

...I think I should stop right now...

...I guess most of you can fill the blanks in...

...you know as a young lad you would go out and get "hammered" in the hope that you'd get "nailed" later on...

Army,
I was being polite not bringing such double meanings to Tom's attention !!!
We also have the expression "getting lucky".
You could say Tom was lucky, but unless she was a young lady & she stopped to make sure he was fine, then there was no chance of him getting lucky (with her) !!!!

I thought the thread title referred to a sexual encounter. Disappointed but happy you didn't get nailed.

To get nailed in the Volvo, he first has to get her to stop the Volvo.

Then, maybe he's got a chance............he's a young whippersnapper.

I see I'm not even the youngest contributor - I should be ashamed of myself.

I can speak from personal experience when I say with the rear seat folded down and the back hatch open (if you are tall) There is room for two to comfortably lay down and sleep if you wish in a Volvo 240GLT wagon. That is all I will say.

Ok, I will say they are dead slow off the line. made a 240 auto look quick.
