Worst airport you've ever been in ?

I will rate Chicago's Ohare #1...with Newark, NJ as a close 2nd.

Try Kona. Completely open terminal and gates in one of the most humid spots in the islands. No jetways, you walk up from the Tarmac on steps.

I don't know: I kind of like that. At Burbank, the terminal was built in the 1940s(?). No jetways: they just park planes behind the terminal and everyone walks out. They generally pull up TWO airstairs (front and rear) to a MD or Airbus. Makes de-planing insanely fast.

Waaaaaaaiting for the jetway to connect or waiting for a gate to open up is the most irritating part of the flight. Give me a 30-40 seater with stairs any day!

Worst (US) airport? Maybe DC/Dulles? Annoying, slow, security, long security line, and there's ONE entrance to the maze of terminals. Meaning that it can be 45 minutes before you even get to your gate for boarding.

People whine about LaGuardia, but it's not bad in my book. Yeah, it's dirty, smelly, and old, but I've always got from the taxi door to the plane door in 15 minutes. Plus the Marine Air Terminal, while not special from the outside, is kind of 1930s awesome inside. And it's a 15 minute cab ride from my house outside of rush hour

Commerce, Texas 2F7 rough, narrow runway with faded markings. No runup area on either end. Taxiways rough as a mine field. Expensive self service fuel. No obstructions on either end though.

LAX sucks big time.

I've learned it's not always the airport as a whole that's bad, but the terminal.

The terminal that United used to use out of Newark was old and ugly, but since the merger with Continental, they're now using the Continental terminal, which is new and fantastic.

Personally, I don't care about "old and ugly" since it's not a resort hotel. Efficiency, speed, and staff not being idiots are much more important.

Disagreed. It's a working though ugly airport, unlike DFW that's populated with unhelpful, slightly rude aholes.

International connection in and out of Heathrow is my worst experience. I wondered how they got their act together for the Olympics.

LAX, Burbank, O'Hare, concur with these and others.

My personal least favorite: King Kahlid Air Port, Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
In the summer, on the asphalt tarmac, saw a dry thermometer reading of 137 degrees F (that's 58C; as not to embellish, the air around us was probably around 116)

Back during the 60s and 70s I loved to fly and few as much as I could. The airline or airport didn't matter, Husky liked to fly.

Now, post 9/11 it is a strictly no joy situation. Some airports have stopped offering sky cap service at the curb to assist with unloading baggage for early check in. If dropping off an elderly passenger, you can forget helping them with their bags because a TSA agent will scream at you to "MOVE THAT CAR NOW!!!" Granny now has to arm wrestle her luggage by herself.

The new TSA friendly "let us help the baggage thieves steal stuff out of your luggage" luggage locks are a joke. All in all, between the airlines poor service and TSA, flying commercially sucks and sucks big time.

Today's commercial airline passengers get to pay to be abused.

I am not the only one who has chosen to keep their feet on the ground. I'm told that routes which used to have five daily flights are down to ONE. If that doesn't make a statement, I don't know what does.

cixelsyD: Burbank is one of the BEST in my book. Cheap car rental, no waiting for the f@@king jetway, and you're out of the airport 5 minutes post landing. Basically a small town airport that never grew up.

As far as luggage LGA still offers curbside. Or you can bring it into the terminal, and they x-ray it in front of you. So if TSA needs to check it, you can have them do it in front of you. I use a copper wire that I link with a drop of solder as a luggage lock. It discourages thieves, since there's no way to open the bag without it being very evident.

...but it feels like you're taking combat evasive maneuvers 11 seconds before or after your wheels leave the ground at Burbank.

I guess you folks are talking about airports, and I'm draggin' entire flight in/out into it.

OK, Airport only, least favorite. Miami. You get off the airplane and it instantly smells like a swamp. Like a cafeteria steam tray full of posterior.
