Great Birthday Weekend, Car Show and New Driver for me

I had a fantastic time at the Automobilia Moonlight car show in Wichita tonight. I drove down in Herbie, the 61 VW with Momma and new baby Eli joining me later in the '94 Roadmaster Estate.

This was Herbie's first big show, and it was getting more attention than the new Lambo Aventador parked a few cars over. Hundreds of people wanted a photo with the car. When I left a bit early with the show going strong, I had to navigate my way out of the crowd, which took a solid 15 minutes. People couldn't help but blurt out HERBIE!, I would reply with a toot of the horn. So much positive energy coming at me it was hard not to get giddy. Same with driving Herbie home. People want to race, honk, wave, thumbs up. You cannot be in a bad mood driving this thing.

As for the Roadmaster, one man approached me wanting to buy her, and another left his business card on the windshield written on the back please call if I want to sell. Maybe that Counting Cars show is emboldening people, or clean Roadmasters are getting impossible to find. Hard for me as a car dealer to say not for sale. Even if I sold it for something ridiculous like $10,000 it would be hard to replace it.

Tomorrow I drive up to Kansas City and finalize a deal on a 2005 E320 CDI. 165,000 miles, 2 female owners, all post warranty service history, and my ideal color combo for $8300. Previous owner commuted from Tulsa to Saint Louis alot, Texas car before that. Aced a PPI at the dealer, so if its as nice as it seems, Life is Good!

Thumbs up

Nice pics!

At $8,300 for that CDI, I don't think you'll go wrong, after the dealer's report. Pretty car!

My CDI this afternoon parked outside Half Price Bookstore:
