People used to take ass whuppings b/c we didn't have as strong self defense laws as we do now. The new laws have taken the "let's kick that dude's ass" component out of the equation for many instances. Dude may decide that "hey, I might get beat to death here" and pop a cap on his attackers and be perfectly within his rights.

So, in your opinion, during the course of the confrontation, Zimmerman evaluated his status against current Florida laws and then formed a response in his mind?

Perhaps. Just realize that Justice would have to quintuple its investigative staff if they have to evaluate every act of asshatery in the US.

That makes Zimmerman one cool, calculating customer. Sure that shot was fired in self-defense? Perhaps Zimmerman just shot him because he could.

Something else has resulted in George Zimmerman being accused and prosecuted by The State of Florida in this case.......

George Zimmerman's defense attorney has brought up in the wake of this case, that George Zimmerman will not be able to hold a job because of the trial. Which I think is a very good point.

I am thinking that perhaps George Zimmerman may be entitled to compensation or damages because the accusation by The State, didn't result in his being found guilty.

As in the case of Ron Williamson in Ada, Oklahoma, perhaps Geo. Zimmerman may be entitled to damages from the State, commensurate with being accused of something that he was found not guilty of? Especially since Geo. Zimmerman's ability to find suitable employment has been seriously diminished/compromised, by the indictment and sensational trial that followed. Thankfully, unlike the Ron Williamson case, Geo. Zimmerman was not found guilty, in the first place.

Write His Attorney a letter and ask if Z has tried the local US Army Recruiter.

She might need to be disbarred for not doing a better job of prosecuting.

He might be hard pressed to find a job because he is percieved as a hot headed dumbazz.

Or he might find gainful employment as a spokesman for the NRA, or as a commentator to assist Sara Palin on Fox news!;)

We all understand that GZ would have probably never approached TVM had he not been armed. Had TVM been a fat and 5'7" tall (like GZ), he probably wouldn't have taken a running jump at beating 7 bells of ***** out of someone he didn't know, so the 'victim' has some responsibility.

A little bit of perspective: I grew up in London where guns don't really exist and are never considered in these types of confrontations. I went to school in not the best area and muggings were very common.

In most cases, muggers get away because police can't be everywhere and they pick victims that are not capable of putting up a fight.

One of my first observations when moving to the US is that this kind of street intimidation doesn't really exist. I can't help but attribute this to the fact that anyone young or old, frail or strong can carry concealed.

This is a tragedy, and that boys life was wasted. But let's not kid ourselves in thinking that a society without guns won't have it's own set of problems.

For Me that was not the question.

The question was is armed Person allowed to instigate a confrontation where His life ends up being threatened and then shoot and Kill Someone?

In Florida the answer is evidently Yes.

We don't know what actually happened nor did the court. The defense wisely kept Z off the stand so he would not have to say what happened and be subject to cross examination.

you guys kill me. you bought into the false racist hype hook, line & sinker....this was a media event, spooled up to a level that even the POTUS was affected. Masterful in it's execution, it made untold millions for the media. Too bad for them that their house of cards was built in a windstorm. I imagine the perpetrator of this just about crapped when the guy with a jewish sounding named turned out to be a hispanic with a backgound of working with and living in a minority community......

STOP BEING LED AROUND BY THE MEDIA.....THEY ARE PLAYING YOU AND LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK, AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR COUNTRY.
