Are Jerks not allowed in Fla?, or does he lose the right to live where he chooses simply because he is a jerk? That would put a LOT of people in the homeless shelters. |
Most of O.D. included…..

Having been behind the scenes in Courtroom admin for 20+ years gives me the right to say that with a degree of certainty. In fact, on my very first day at work the Judge hearing a new murder case about to begin commented right before he went into court on the first day of the trial; Actually he *scoffed* "That guy would actually like to dig her up and kill her again!" A bon mot like that, out of the mouth of a Judge, is pretty shocking. Even if it was said quietly, 29 years ago, is something you'd probably remember even now if it was the first thing you heard on he beginning of your first day at work. Kinda sets the tone for what you are going to be in for. Nome sayin'? |

I wonder....do "jerks" get off simply by being jerks, or do they get harsher treatment? How did that play out in Zim's case? |

Judges are people wrapped with all the emotions, beliefs and convictions the rest of us come with. So, of course they have opinions about cases which may play into their decisions. They watch the news too...... |

We were all taught that justice is blind. As we grew up, we realized it wasn't quite blind. Nevertheless, I am surprised when a Judge expresses an opinion before hearing the case. Now, it may be that this Judge had previous contact with the accused--in Jim's case. That would make his comment understandable. I would still hope he can suspend his personal judgments and hear the case impartially. |
I prefer not to see sausage being made. I know what happens, but "ick".

Zimm is not now, now ever was "my boy"? His case was a matter of legal proof-- of which, the jury decided there was none. I side with the legal system that requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt. You may wish for a lesser requirement---until it affects you, then you would scream like a baby. The fact that he was, and is a jerk does NOT make him guilty of murder. Sorry you were manipulated by edited and biased "news" accounts. Try to be more discerning and less emotion in your future judgments. |
Since this was a thread I started I am requesting it be closed. Nothing productive happening now.

We could all dissect the Zimmerman trial until the end of time; food for thought: IMHO, his legal team played a major role in his acquittal. They were on their game BIG TIME. Courtroom Warriors!
